Dry Skin Causes

There are many dry skin causes, and it is important to know what is causing it so that you treat it correctly. Dry skin goes away if you care for your skin properly and avoid certain triggers.
Staying moisturized
One of the leading causes of dry skin is lack of moisture. It is extremely important to moisturize your skin on a regular basis; this means moisturizing twice a day for your body and face. Moisturize during colder weather because it causes dry skin. The best time to apply lotion is when your skin is slightly damp; it helps lock in the moisture.
Avoiding certain ingredients
If you suffer from dry skin, then you need moisturizing body soap and washes that do not strip the skin of its resources. Many cleansers have ingredients to strip the oil from your skin, but these harsh ingredients make your skin even drier. Choose gentle soaps that state that they are formulated for dry skin.
Taking shorter showers
You may love hot baths and showers, but these things cause your skin to dry out even more. If you suffer from dry skin, avoid hot water by taking lukewarm showers instead. Hot water only dries out the skin and causes further damage the longer you remain in the shower.
Dry skin is caused by a multitude of issues; however, it is easily fixed by avoiding common triggers. Remember to moisturize frequently, avoid harsh ingredients and take lukewarm showers to keep your skin moist.
