Trouble Areas for Dry Skin

Dry skin is an irritating problem, and there are several common trouble areas for dry skin. The itchiness and redness is extremely uncomfortable, and you may find yourself overwhelmed. There are some simple things you can do to prevent and treat dry skin on the most troublesome areas.
Face
The face is exposed to the environment 24/7, and dry skin on the face is extremely common. This is a tricky area to treat, because you do not want to over-moisturize and risk acne breakouts or blackheads. If you have combination skin, your face is oily through the t-zone and dry elsewhere. This makes treating facial dryness a little more difficult, as the two areas often need separate treatments. Look for a special face cleanser to address both your oily and dry skin.
Elbows, knees, ankles and heels
The thick skin of the elbows, knees, ankles and heels is very prone to extreme dryness. Since these areas are less efficient at shedding layers of dead skin cells, you may find that frequent exfoliation is especially helpful in combating dry skin on these less-delicate areas. Daily application of a rich, moisturizing cream is a good insurance policy to help prevent dryness.
Hands
Dry skin on the hands is an extremely common problem. With frequent hand-washing and daily dish-washing, the hands are often painfully dry. Using a moisturizing hand soap and applying a good hand cream after washing is the best line of defense against extreme dryness of the hands. Wearing gloves for washing dishes and other tasks that can irritate the skin of the hands is another great way to combat this problem.
Extreme dry skin can seem like an overwhelming problem at times. There are, however, some simple ways to treat and prevent this irritating and often painful problem.
